The Dead Sea Scrolls. Among them: the Great Isaiah Scroll - a nearly complete Hebrew copy of the book of Isaiah - dated by paleography and by 1991 radiocarbon analysis at ETH Zurich to approximately 125 BC. About a thousand years older than the oldest complete Hebrew Isaiah manuscript we had before that discovery.
When scholars compared them - a thousand years apart - the text was substantially the same. The scribes preserved it.
