Forgiveness is always required by God. Reconciliation is not always possible - and it is not always safe.

Forgiveness takes one person. Reconciliation takes two. If you are being abused, nothing in Scripture is asking you to go back. Forgiveness happens in your heart before God; reconciliation requires the offender's genuine repentance.
