A Debt of 200,000 Years | The Parable Jesus Told

A king forgives a servant a debt of 10,000 talents - so large it would take a laborer roughly 200,000 years to earn. The servant walks outside and grabs a fellow servant by the throat over a hundred denarii, about a hundred days' wages.

The king is furious. Not because the first servant failed to earn his release, but because his refusal to forgive proved he had never grasped what he had been given.

Received forgiveness precedes required forgiveness. That is what Matthew 6 means.
