The Holy Spirit
What the Bible Says
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity — fully God — who indwells every believer, convicts the world of sin, teaches truth, and empowers the church for witness and holy living.
Scripture Teaching
Jesus promised the Holy Spirit in John 14:26: "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you." Acts 1:8 declares, "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." Galatians 5:22-23 describes the fruit the Spirit produces: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law." Romans 8:26 reveals that the Spirit intercedes for believers in prayer. The Holy Spirit is not merely a force but a person who guides, empowers, and transforms.
How It Applies Today
The Holy Spirit is the believer's constant companion, teacher, and source of power for godly living. Walking in the Spirit means yielding daily to His guidance and allowing Him to produce His fruit in every area of life. The presence of the Holy Spirit assures every believer that they belong to God and are equipped for the work He has called them to do.
