Salvation

What the Bible Says

Salvation is God's work of delivering sinners from the penalty, power, and ultimately the presence of sin through faith in Jesus Christ. It is a gift of grace, not earned by human effort.

Scripture Teaching

John 3:16 declares, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." Romans 10:9-10 explains, "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Ephesians 2:8-9 affirms, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." Acts 4:12 declares that there is salvation in no other name under heaven but the name of Jesus Christ. Salvation encompasses justification, sanctification, and the future glorification of every believer.

How It Applies Today

Salvation is the most important decision any person will ever face — believing in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. It is not something that can be earned through good deeds or religious activity but is received by grace through faith. Understanding the gift of salvation produces gratitude, worship, and a desire to live for the One who gave everything to redeem us.
