Grace

What the Bible Says

Grace is God's unmerited favor toward sinners — His kindness and generosity given freely to those who do not deserve it and cannot earn it. It is the foundation of the gospel.

Scripture Teaching

Ephesians 2:8 declares, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God." Romans 5:8 reveals the heart of grace: "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Titus 2:11 proclaims, "For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men." Romans 3:24 explains that believers are "justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus." Second Corinthians 12:9 assures believers that God's grace is sufficient in every circumstance.

How It Applies Today

Grace means that God's acceptance is not based on performance but on what Christ has done. This truth frees believers from the burden of trying to earn God's favor and empowers them to live for Him out of gratitude rather than obligation. The grace that saves also transforms — teaching believers to live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age.
