Overview
Zechariah prophesied alongside Haggai to encourage the rebuilding of the temple. The first half contains eight night visions depicting God's plans for Jerusalem, the removal of sin, and the crowning of Joshua the high priest. The second half contains prophecies about the coming King who is humble and riding on a donkey, the piercing of one whom they shall mourn, the cleansing fountain for sin, and the day when the Lord will be King over all the earth. The book combines immediate encouragement with far-reaching messianic prophecy.

How It Applies Today
Zechariah teaches that God's work is accomplished not by human might or power, but by His Spirit. The prophecy of a humble king riding on a donkey reveals that God's kingdom comes through humility and service, not force. The book encourages believers to trust in God's unfolding plan even when the fulfillment seems distant.
