Overview
John opens with a prologue declaring Jesus as the eternal Word who was with God and was God. The book records seven miraculous signs โ including turning water into wine, feeding the five thousand, and raising Lazarus โ that reveal the glory of Jesus. John contains the seven "I am" declarations of Jesus, extended discourses on His identity and mission, and the intimate Upper Room teaching with His disciples. The book records the crucifixion, the empty tomb, the resurrection appearances, and closes with Jesus' restoration of Peter.

How It Applies Today
John makes clear that Jesus is God in the flesh and that believing in Him is the way to eternal life. The "I am" statements of Jesus reveal that He alone can satisfy the deepest needs of the human heart โ He is the bread of life, the light of the world, the good shepherd, and the resurrection and the life. John's Gospel calls every reader to a personal decision: to believe in Jesus and receive the life He offers.
