Overview
Deuteronomy consists of Moses' farewell speeches on the plains of Moab before the Israelites cross the Jordan into Canaan. Moses reviews the history of their wilderness journey, restates the Law with emphasis on loving God wholeheartedly, and sets before the people the choice between blessing and cursing. The book includes instructions for life in the land, songs and blessings of Moses, and his commissioning of Joshua as his successor. It concludes with the death of Moses on Mount Nebo.
