When Love for Others Comes Before Love for God: How Satan Deceives Us

Greetings, my beloved children. It is I who has come to you today to discuss a topic that is close to my heart - the danger of putting our love for others before our love for God. The devil is a master of deception, and one of his favorite tactics is to distract us from our devotion to God by tempting us with the love of others. In this blog, I want to shed light on how Satan uses our love for others to hinder our spiritual growth and what we can do to protect ourselves from falling into this trap.

Firstly, let us turn to the Holy Scriptures. In the book of Matthew, chapter 10, verses 37-39, it says: "Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever does not take up his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it." This verse reminds us that our love for God must come first and foremost in our lives.

So, what can we do to protect ourselves from the lure of loving others more than God? Firstly, we must pray. In 1 John 1:9, it says: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." Prayer is a powerful tool that can help us confess our sins, including the sin of idolizing the love of others over God, and ask for forgiveness.

Secondly, we must turn to the Holy Scriptures for guidance. In John 15:12-13, it says: "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends." While it is important to love others, we must always remember to love God first and foremost, and to love others as He has loved us.

Lastly, we should seek accountability. In Proverbs 27:17, it says: "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." Having a community of believers who can hold us accountable and help us stay focused on our love for God is essential in overcoming the temptation of loving others more than God.

In conclusion, my children, the devil will do anything to distract us from our love for God, including tempting us with the love of others. But with prayer, guidance from the Scriptures, and accountability, we can stay focused on our devotion to God and live a life that honors Him. Let us pray together now, asking for forgiveness for our sins and for strength to resist the temptation of putting our love for others before our love for God. May God bless you and keep you always in His loving embrace. Amen.
