The Devil's Trap: How Living for Pleasure Can Lead Us Away from God's Will

My dear children, it is I who has come to you to talk about a topic that is prevalent in our society today - living for pleasure. The devil is a master of deception, and he uses the lure of pleasure to distract us from living a life that is in accordance with God's will. In this blog, I want to shed light on how the devil uses the desire for pleasure to lead us away from God's will and what we can do to protect ourselves from falling into this trap.

Firstly, let us turn to the Holy Scriptures. In Ecclesiastes 2:1-2, it says: "I said to myself, 'Come now, I will test you with pleasure to find out what is good.' But that also proved to be meaningless. 'Laughter,' I said, 'is madness. And what does pleasure accomplish?'" This verse reminds us that pleasure is fleeting and ultimately meaningless. We should not make it the focus of our lives.

So, what can we do to protect ourselves from the trap of living for pleasure? Firstly, we must pray. In James 4:3, it says: "When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures." Prayer is a powerful tool that can help us resist the temptation of pleasure and stay focused on God's will.

Secondly, we must turn to the Holy Scriptures for guidance. In 1 John 2:15-16, it says: "Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world - the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life - comes not from the Father but from the world." The Bible provides us with the wisdom and insight we need to live a life that is in accordance with God's will. We should make it a habit to read and meditate on the Scriptures daily.

Lastly, we should seek accountability. In Proverbs 27:17, it says: "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." Having a community of believers who can hold us accountable and help us stay focused on God's will is essential in overcoming the temptation of pleasure.

In conclusion, my children, living for pleasure can be a trap that leads us away from God's will. But with prayer, guidance from the Scriptures, and accountability, we can resist the temptation of pleasure and live a life that honors God. Let us pray together now, asking for forgiveness for our sins and for strength to resist the temptation of pleasure. May God bless you and keep you always in His loving embrace. Amen.
